Certification Application Process

AEM/CEM Applications

This section walks you through the application process. Certification candidates may reach out to members of their council's Certification Commission for help and advice on the application process. 

The Steps

  1. Fill out the Certification Enrollment form.
  2. Determine the type of Certification you plan to obtain.
  3. Pay the Certification Fee$425 for IAEM members or $635 for non-members (certification fees are non-refundable and non-transferable) NOTE: Fees are increasing on June 1 to $430 for IAEM members or $640 for non-members. 
  4. Complete the below two steps within one year of each other (order does not matter)
  5. Get Recognized at our Annual Conference during our Awards Banquet when you earn your Certification!
  6. Recertify to keep your Certification current

More Tips for successfully completing your AEM®/CEM® application:

  • Follow all instructions.
  • Letters of reference must be signed and on letterhead.
  • Remember to click on the blue "Submit Application" button on the candidate dashboard when you are ready for it to be received by IAEM Headquarters and scheduled for review by a Certification Commissioner.
