IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Awards 2020

About the IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Awards

The IAEM-USA Military Uniformed Services Emergency Manager of the Year and the IAEM-USA Civilian Uniformed Services Emergency Manager of the Year awards recognize individuals serving in the uniformed services of the United States who have consistently demonstrated significant contributions to the field of emergency management while continuously self-developing as emergency managers. Nominations are open to members of the U.S. Armed Services, including U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps.

The IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Auxiliary Member of the Year Award recognizes an individual who made extraordinary emergency management volunteer contributions during the 2018 calendar year as a member of a uniformed services auxiliary organization. 

Judges for the three categories will include members of the IAEM Awards & Recognition Committee and the IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Caucus.

2020 Awards Guidelines

  • There is NO entry form for these awards. Follow the instructions in the guidelines about the content and format of entries.
  • Please Note: All IAEM USC award submissions should be submitted directly to IAEM by the first signatory (O-6 or GS-15 ) submitting the recommendation.
  • Entry Deadline: The entry deadline is June 30, 2020, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. (announced 15 May 2020)  

There are three award categories in the IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Awards Competition:

  • IAEM-USA Military Uniformed Services Emergency Manager of the Year 
    The IAEM-USA Military Uniformed Services Emergency Manager of the Year award recognizes individuals serving in the uniformed services of the United States who have consistently demonstrated significant contributions to the field of emergency management while continuously self-developing as emergency managers. Nominations are open to members of the U.S. Armed Services, including U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps.
  • IAEM-USA Civilian Uniformed Services Emergency Manager of the Year  
    The IAEM-USA Civilian Uniformed Services Emergency Manager of the Year award recognizes civlians serving in the uniformed services of the United States who have consistently demonstrated significant contributions to the field of emergency management while continuously self-developing as emergency managers. Nominations are open to members of the U.S. Armed Services, including U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps.
  • IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Auxiliary Member of the Year Award 
    This award recognizes the services of a single individual who made extraordinary emergency management volunteer contributions during the 2019 calendar year as a member of a uniformed services auxiliary organization. The nomination must be for an individual who participates as an active volunteer within one of the uniformed services auxiliaries. This includes members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the U.S. Air Force Civil Air Patrol. There are more than 55,000 Civil Air Patrol and more than 32,000 U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary members serving in every state in the United States and Puerto Rico. The individual recognized should have demonstrated exceptional contributions across the spectrum of any of the emergency management mission areas.

Awards Announcement and Presentation

The winners of the 2020 IAEM-USA Uniformed Services Awards are announced by the IAEM Awards & Recognition Committee. Award presentations will take place at the IAEM 2020 Annual Conference, Long Beach, California, USA.
