Exclusive Tour of Spectrum Health

During this tour, you will see clinical areas of each of the three hospitals (Butterworth, Meijer Heart Center, and Helen DeVos Children's Hospital) and its fully dedicated System Command Center. Members of the system’s Emergency Management team will provide a tour of the Tier 1 Special Pathogens Unit, Patient Decontamination, and describe how it’s System Command Center evolved during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Come see how this healthcare system is at the leading edge of organizational situation management.

The goal is to build new and strengthen old connections, exchange ideas, and expand our creativity - all in a relaxed setting. We will be meeting at a local restaurant within walking distance from the convention center in Grand Rapids.

Fee: Cost of your own dinner and drinks at restaurant. Separate individual tabs will be established.

IAP vs IPA, Managing Incidents in Beer City, USA

What’s the difference between an IAP and an IPA? One means disaster, and the other is a means to make it through a disaster. Craft beer and incident management have more in common than you think, and since you are in Beer City USA we thought we should talk about it. Join local beer Cicerone (and beer podcaster) Pat McBride and local healthcare emergency manager Mark VanDyke in a fun light hearted evening of discussion and beer tasting. Your night will include a short presentation, beer tastings, laughter, and a chance to visit the heart of Beer City USA, Founders Brewing. What beer is best to have in your cellar for your next at home tornado drill? Find out on Sunday, October 17th .

Fee: $35, includes a flight of beer and light refreshments.   Attendees will meet at Founder’s Brewery, 235 Grandville Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503
