IAEM International President Attends IAEM-USA Annual Conference, Nov. 11-17, 2011
His Excellency Khaled Abdullah Almansoori, IAEM International Council president, attended the IAEM-USA 59th Annual Conference & EMEX 2011 in Las Vegas. This was his second IAEM-USA Annual Conference as president, and he was excited to return. "It is very beneficial when the Global Board can meet in person to discuss IAEM, councils, and organization issues. The conference also allows me to connect with industry, non-profits, and government entities to discuss trends and breakthroughs in emergency management," he said. On the final day, Almansoori received a 2011 Certificate of Appreciation from IAEM USA President Eddie Hicks, CEM, in recognition of his contributions. He was surprised and honored, saying, "Although you never expect it, it is an honor to be recognized by peers."

IAEM International President Meets with Chargé d'Affaires, Federal Republic of Somalia, Sept. 15, 2011
His Excellency Khaled Almansoori, IAEM president, met Mr. Husain Mahmood Mohamed, Somalia's Chargé d'Affaires, in Abu Dhabi. Mahmood praised IAEM's work in Africa and sees a role for IAEM in Somalia. Almansoori expressed sympathy for Somalia and said IAEM aims to help countries lacking emergency management resources develop sustainable programs through training and strategic advice to better handle crises.
IAEM International Council and South African Local Governments Sign Memorandum of Understanding, July 29, 2011
IAEM International Council President, His Excellency Khaled Almansoori, signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the South African Local Governments Association (SALGA). Areas of cooperation will include developing an emergency management training program, conducting training and exercises, identifying and encouraging donor support focused on poor and vulnerable populations to better prepare them for future disasters, and developing Capacity Development Aids and Guidelines to enhance SALGA's support for and development of local governments' responses to Disaster Risk Management.
IAEM International Council President Attends Meeting with Director of Dubai Protective Security and Emergency Management, June 30, 2011
At the invitation of the Dubai Police General Headquarters, His Excellency Khaled Almansoori, president of the International Council, attended a meeting hosted by Major General Mohammed Eid Al Almansoori, director of the Protective Security and Emergency Department. The Dubai Police handle all crisis management functions within the Emirate of Dubai and are keen to identify strategies to raise professional capabilities, especially in emergency response and business continuity.

IAEM President Khaled Abdulla Almansoori met Clay Tyeryar in Dubai last week to discuss expanding IAEM's presence in the UAE, a priority for outreach and development of emergency management. They also considered holding the 2012 IAEM Conference in the Middle East and highlighted the support from headquarters. President Almansoori has been working to raise emergency management awareness and develop programs in the region. Tyeryar was impressed with UAE's infrastructure and emergency efforts, believing it would be a great location for next year’s conference, thanks to Almansoori's dedication.

IAEM International Council President Signs Memorandum of Partnership with African Center for Disaster Studies, March 3, 2011
IAEM International Council President His Excellency Khaled Almansoori signed a Memorandum of Partnership with the African Center for Disaster Studies (ACDS). Also in the photo is Mr. Ethan Appleby, IAEM International Council Member and Operations Coordinator. The memorandum will allow IAEM to help ACDS and their constituents to promote international best practices, provide training, and cooperate on mutually beneficial projects related to emergency management and disaster risk reduction in Africa and other IAEM International Council member countries.

IAEM International Council President Attends Unveiling of Business Continuity Standard for the UAE, Feb. 16, 2011
IAEM International Council President Khaled Almansoori attended the unveiling of the final draft for the United Arab Emirates National Business Continuity Capability Management Standard by Mohammed Ahmed Al Jenaibi. President Mansoori was presented with an official copy of the final draft, which is the first business continuity standard in the region. Mr. Jenabi is the director of the BCM Program at the UAE National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA).

IAEM Council President His Excellency Khaled Almansoori met with Maktar Ali Farah from UNOCHA Regional Office for the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. Also present was Mr. Brad Gair, Special Adviser to the IAEM President. The meeting introduced IAEM to UNOCHA and discussed potential collaboration, including training in planning, aid continuity, and coordination. OCHA, part of the UN Secretariat, coordinates humanitarian responses, mobilizes aid, advocates for affected populations, and promotes disaster preparedness and sustainability.

In January 2011 in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Khaled Almansoori, IAEM International Council President, met with Mr. Ronald Noble, Secretary General of Interpol. Also in the photo are Mr. Brad Gair, IAEM International Council Special Advisor to the President, and Mr. Fahem Abdullah, Head of the Interpol Middle East and North Africa Region. The meeting discussed a cooperative agreement with Interpol to provide post-disaster services (disaster victim identification and missing-persons location) for our member nations.
