IAEM-USA Announces the 2025 Emergency Management Education and Training Program Award
The Awards & Recognition Committee of the U.S. Council of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM-USA) has selected CAP National Emergency Mobile Training Team as the IAEM-USA 2025 Emergency Management Education and Training Program Award recipient. The award will be presented at the 73rd IAEM Annual Conference & EMEX in Louisville, Kentucky.
2025 IAEM-USA Emergency Management Education and Training Program Award Recipient: Civil Air Patrol (CAP) National Emergency Services Academy Mobile Training Team
The Civil Air Patrol’s NESA Mobile Training Team is being honored as a national leader in emergency
management education and training. Evolving from the original NESA program established in 1996, the
Mobile Training Team has significantly increased access to high-quality, mission-driven training beyond
Camp Atterbury, Indiana—reaching all 52 CAP wings and international audiences.
Over the past decade, the team has delivered more than 500 courses to over 12,000 participants, covering essential topics such as incident management, public information, chaplain emergency
services, communications, and small unmanned aircraft systems. Their cadre of expert instructors—
trusted by FEMA, DHS-CISA, the U.S. Air Force, and Coast Guard—reinforces the program’s national
impact and credibility.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team demonstrated exceptional adaptability by converting FEMA’s
Emergency Operations Center Skill-Set curriculum to a virtual format, training over 1,500 students
worldwide. Today, the Mobile Training Team continues to set the standard for accessible, rigorous, and
affordable emergency management education, offering more than 30 courses each year and
strengthening the nation’s readiness at every level.
The IAEM-USA Emergency Management Education and Training Program Award recognizes a
college, university, or federal, state, local, tribal, military training agency, a recognized private
agency/organization, or non-government organization (NGO) that offers and has students enrolled
in and who complete emergency management courses in mitigation, preparedness, response,
recovery, and/or planning.
