Three-year and One-year Terms are Open

The IAEM Scholarship Commission is seeking candidates to fill 11 positions on the commission beginning Jan. 1, 2027. Seven positions are three-year terms in the Class of 2029, one is a two-year position in the Class of 2028, and three positions are standard one-year terms to be included in the Class of 2027.
Open Positions
Members of the commission are selected to fill specific seats based on representation. However, any interested IAEM member is encouraged to apply, as we are seeking alternates to represent each category within the Commission to fill seats should they become available mid-term. Review the Chart of Commissioner Categories with definitions to learn more about each seat.
Candidates are being sought for the following positions with terms beginning Jan. 1, 2027.
Class of 2029, serving Jan. 1, 2027 - Dec. 31, 2029
- Academia Representative
- Donor Representative
- IAEM-USA Representative
- INGO (including VOAD and Faith-based Organizations) Representative
- Past Scholarship Recipient
- Private Sector Industry Representative
- Uniformed Services/Military Representative
Class of 2028, serving from Jan. 1, 2027 - Dec. 31, 2028
- IAEM-Oceania Representative
Class of 2027, serving from Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2027
- Student Representative (three will be selected)
Who Should Apply
The Scholarship seeks members who are devoted to the Scholarship Program's mission to nurture, promote, and develop disaster preparedness and resilience by furthering the education of students studying emergency management, disaster management, or a related field. Members must be able to devote time to Program duties. Download the Commissioner Duties and Attributes guidance to learn more about the position and requirements.
How to Apply
Applying to be a commissioner is easy. You will need:

- The application is collected via an online survey. It is recommended that you download the questions and prepare answers prior to starting the online application. Then, copy and paste the answers into the application form.Â

- Letter of Intent
- The letter of intent should express your desire to serve as a commissioner, as well as your willingness to devote the necessary time to participate in online scholarship reviews, commission meetings, and fundraising activities. [Maximum of one page]
The resume and letter of intent will be attached and uploaded as the last two steps of the application. So, please save the files in .pdf format and have them available on the same device used to complete the application.
