Committee Mission
The Partnership Engagement Committee’s mandate is to make recommendations to the IAEM Canada Board of Directors on partnership engagement that supports IAEM emergency management and planning initiatives at the municipal governments, Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, Inuit) governments, the federal government, provincial governments, and territorial levels of government through a proactive and collaborative approach. The committee seeks to partner and sign partnership Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with the following types of Canadian groups and organizations who have an emergency management (mitigation/prevention, preparedness, response, recovery) function or role as part of their mandate:
- Universities and Colleges
- Not-for-Profit organizations
- Professional associations
- Indigenous organizations
- Champions of Disaster Risk Reduction/Emergency Management
We are working to support our membership and enhance cooperation and teamwork for all those interested in strengthening emergency management and overall disaster resilience and recovery in Canada.
Committee Goals
- Develop partnerships with municipal governments, Indigenous governments, the federal government, provincial governments, territorial governments, the private sector, public agencies/boards/commissions (ABCs), and educational institutions that support emergency management and planning initiatives.
- Engagement with post-secondary emergency management student chapters across Canada and promote the Certified Emergency Manager certification application process.
- Lead the development of think tanks that promote Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) within emergency management,
- Engage and collaborate with emergency managers, aspiring emergency managers, community groups, volunteers, individuals with an interest in emergency management, and not-for-profit organizations to assist in unifying the voices of emergency managers and those who support emergency management activities and events throughout Canada.
