Upcoming IAEM AEM/CEM Exam & Prep Course Dates and Locations

Stay informed about the latest opportunities to advance your emergency management credentials. Below is a list of upcoming Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) exam dates:

 

November 16, 2025, USA Preparatory Course – Louisville, KY

Register Now

  1. Location: 2025 IAEM Annual Conference, Kentucky International Convention Center.  See the program for the room location.
  2. Time: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. EST
  3. Registration Deadline: October 17, 2025 (onsite registration is not available). The certification application fee ($430 for IAEM members; $640 for non-members) must be paid by the registration deadline..

Additional Information: USA Preparatory Course Registration Fee is $535. Payment is due at the time of registration. If you will be only participating in the USA Preparatory Course and NOT attending the Annual Conference itself:

  • Select registration price type “PreConf OR Optional Event - select function”
  • In the function section select: “Certification Exam Preparatory Course (USA specific)
  • Proceed through the payment page to obtain a registration confirmation number

  2. Time: Two exam times are available: 8:30-11:00 a.m. and 12:00-2:30 p.m. (These exam times are for those who are NOT participating in the certification preparatory course.)
  3. Registration Deadline: October 31, 2025 (onsite registration is not available)Participants must register and pay their Certification Fee ($430 for IAEM members; $640 for non-members) by the registration deadline.
  4. Additional Information: Please arrive 30 minutes before the exam for check-in and bring a photo ID. If you will be only participating in the exam and NOT attending the Annual Conference itself:

February 10, 2026, Certification Exam – Webster, TX

  1. Location: In conjunction with the 2026 IAEM-USA Region 6 Symposium, Great Wolf Lodge Conference Center, 1000 Great Wolf Way, Webster, Texas, 77598.
  2. Time: 9:00 am to 11:30 am. CST.
  3. Registration Deadline: January 15, 2026 (onsite registration is not available).

Additional Information: If you will only be taking the certification exam and NOT attending the IAEM-USA Region 6 Symposium itself:

  • Select registration price type “Pre-Conf Exam Only-Select Exam Under Functions”
  • In the function section select: “AEM / CEM Exam-Add'l. Certification Application Fee
  • Proceed through the payment page to obtain a registration confirmation number

Scheduling an Exam Near You

Applicants can request an individual exam offering by completing an Exam Request Form. If you have any issues, please email Sharon Kelly. Read more about proctors here.

Important Examination Notes

  1. Certification Application Fee: Must be paid before sitting for the exam.
  2. Registration: Onsite registration is not available. Please register online by the specified deadlines.
  3. Identification: Bring a valid photo ID to the exam.

Retest Policy

If an applicant does not pass the exam:

  1. First Retake: One additional attempt is allowed at no extra charge after a 60-day waiting period.
  2. Subsequent Attempts: After two unsuccessful attempts, applicants must repay the certification fee to receive two more opportunities.
